Rosh HaShanah 5787 Events
Rosh Hashanah is a time of renewal, hope, and new beginnings. It is an opportunity to pause, reflect on the year that has passed, welcome the year ahead, and come together as a community.
At Shirat HaYam, we invite you to experience a modern, musical, and egalitarian High Holiday service. Our services combine Jewish tradition with contemporary spirit, communal singing, and active participation in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Whether this is your first Rosh Hashanah service or a long-standing tradition, you are warmly welcome. No previous knowledge or familiarity with the prayers is required. Our services are conducted in both Hebrew and English, making them accessible to everyone.
This year, we are especially honoured to welcome Rabbi Professor Deborah Kahn, Principal of the Leo Baeck College Rabbinic Programme in the UK, who will lead our High Holiday services and share words of Torah and inspiration. Throughout the services, Gal will accompany us with live music and singing, creating a meaningful and uplifting holiday experience.
Families with children, couples, individuals, and visitors from around the world are all invited to celebrate the New Year with us.
We are also planning children's activities during the holiday. Further details will be announced soon.
Time: 18:30 – 22:30
To help us prepare properly, advance registration is required. Please register your family using the form below.
To cover the basic costs of the event, we request a symbolic contribution of €10 per person.
Additional donations are welcome and help Shirat HaYam continue building an open, egalitarian and sustainable Jewish community in Cyprus.
Shirat HaYam events are potluck style. Every family brings a dish to share. After registering, you will receive a password by email to access the potluck page, where you can see what others are bringing and add your own dish.
